OPPO Find N, The First Folding Screen Smartphone with a Starting Price of Rp17 Million

Smartphone Reviews, Oppo Find N 2021

After rumors that have sprung up since the last few weeks, oppo Find N was finally unveiled as its first folding screen smartphone at the end of 2021. Because attendance tends to be late from competitors, of course there is enough time for chinese vendors this one to perfect the folding mechanism.

The launch of OPPO Find N itself is part of the OPPO INNO DAY 2021 series of events, where on the first day, the oppo Air Glass and NPU MariSilicon X wearable devices are introduced.

From those already available in the market such as the Galaxy Z Fold3 to Huawei Mate X2, both have a bongsor design, with a slim and high form factor when folded. OPPO has a different approach, wanting to present a device that is still comfortable to use one hand when folded, where users do not feel the content displayed will be limited.

Oppo Find N Dimensions Are Smaller Than Z Fold3

From the exterior appearance, oppo Find N design itself is very inspired by the Find X3 Pro, especially in the camera module that is integrated into one part. This smartphone uses Gorilla Glass Victus material to be more break resistant, but there is no official IP rating. Although OPPO claims that this device is safe despite being exposed to splashes of water.

The weight itself is 275 grams with a thickness of 15.9mm when it is folded. Well, unlike Samsung's, the OPPO Find N folding screen mechanism does not provide a gap alias distance when closed, so it can protect the screen in it better. The outside screen itself has dimensions of 5.5 inches, using an AMOLED panel with a conventional ratio of 18:9. It will feel more like a smartphone in general.

When opened, users will be greeted with a 7.1-inch 120Hz AMOLED LTPO panel. The screen has a wider ratio, so it will be more suitable to watch movies or play games. With the LTPO panel, the refresh rate can adjust from 1Hz to make it more power efficient.

Another differentiator with Samsung's folding screen smartphone is in the fold. Although both are layered ultra-thin glass, the folds oppo Find N is claimed to be 80% better by TUV Rheinland, so it does not look used or crease in the middle. It has been tested to survive at least 200 thousand times the test open screen cap.

Just like the Z Fold3, the OPPO Find N screen can be opened in various angles flexibly. On each screen, a punch-hole camera is prepared that uses a Sony sensor with a resolution of 32MP. Unlike its competitors, OPPO seems to prefer the quality of photos and videos to full-screen display when the camera is not in use.

Run Snapdragon 888, Has a 50MP Main Sensor

In addition to these two cameras, the rear body of the OPPO Find N also uses three Sony sensors. The main sensor itself is 50MP resolution, using the exact same type of IMX766 as find X3 Pro. The other two sensors are 16MP ultra wide-angle and 13MP telephoto 2x optical zoom. Oh yes, this smartphone still does not use the latest NPU MariSilicon X from OPPO.

Why is that? Because OPPO Find N 'only' uses Snapdragon 888 chips instead of the newer Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. The reason is because product development has started since four years ago, so it will take extra time to use newer chips. At least it is also balanced with extra-relieved RAM capacity.

It is supported with 33W SuperVOOC that can fill full in 70 minutes (in addition to 15W AirVOOC & 10W reverse charging).

In addition to stereo speakers, the fingerprint sensor is also embedded on the side of the body. There are three color options to choose from: Black, White and Purple. For the first sale, the new OPPO Find N will be available in its home country, going on sale December 23. Price? Much cheaper than Samsung's offerings.
